The Thompson Center

The Thompson Center

The James R. Thompson Center, named after a former Illinois governor, is an architectural icon of Chicago. It was originally the State of Illinois Center which opened in 1985. It was designed by noted architect, Helmut Jahn. In this image I tried to capture how the design slopes back toward the sky so that it reflects its natural environment despite its location in the midst of skyscrapers that block expansive views.
